Which Wedge?

Which Wedge?

We all know a golfer who absolutely loves the aggressive chip shot, Phil Mickelson style. Alternatively, there's that person in your group who you don't know too well and seems to nail their shorter shots onto the green. Out of the bunker? No worries. 10 feet off the green? Easy. How do they do it? Whatever your style of play, getting your ball inches from the flag is an enviable skill, and picking the right wedge to suit your swing is pivotal. With our great range of premium VEGA wedges, we've got a tool for every kind of golfer.

VEGA Alcor Wedge

VEGA Alcor Wedge

The Alcor uses a reverse CNC spin milling method to add a more consistent surface to the face of the club. This allows for unsurpassed backspin, and a one piece forged carbon steel head gives this club soft feel. The Alcor would suit the player that either struggles to get spin on the ball, or is a master of control and likes to flight the ball extremely close to the pin. The cut lines you see in the back of the club head are designed to allow a higher mass weight in the toe. Another feature of the Alcor is a relatively high centre of gravity when compared to other leading wedges - again increasing spin rate. All round, an exceptional wedge.

VEGA VW-02 Wedge

VEGA VW-02 Wedge

The VW-02 features the angular tri grind sole. Three very distinct grind areas on the toe and heel relief make this an aggressive wedge to play. Like all the VEGA clubs, it is one piece forged giving you amazingly soft feel. For the player who likes to strike the wedge from a bit further out, and has mastered their stroke.

VEGA VW-04 Wedge

Looking closely at the image above, you can clearly see where the VW-04 differentiates from it's VW-02 brother. A more gradual grind on both the heel and toe are designed for versatility as well as the ability to cut through the ruff. Finding yourself in sticky situations a bit too often? The VW-04 is the answer to your prayers.

VEGA VW-06 wedge

VEGA VW-06 Wedge

The VW-06 features a very similar head shape to the VW-08 below. The lone difference is an extra heel grind for players who really like to open up the face on their lob shots. A very good wedge for high spinning and low bouncing shot play.

VEGA VW-08 Wedge

VEGA VW-08 Wedge

The VW-08 is a very traditionally shaped wedge. A classic shape is never a bad thing, and this wedge has been described as one of the most versatile in the world. While most of our VEGA wedges are available in both a satin and raw finish, the VW-08 is in raw only. The head will naturally rust over time, releasing the ball with more spin. A personal favourite of ours, the VW-08 is sure to step up to any situation.

VEGA VW-10 wedge

VEGA VW-10 Wedge

Last but not least, the VW-10. Another traditionally shaped wedge that features a curved leading edge. The unique grind ensures that despite being curved, the leading edge remains ground tight. This converts to clean strikes from tight lies. This wedge is suited to the more advanced golfer who hits the ball very cleanly.

All of our VEGA range wedges are custom fitted and available with a choice of two shafts: the Tour Wedge and Tour Wedge Black. The Black adds an extra 10 grams for slightly decreased spin, suiting the player who has greater spin control. Click through to have a look at the full range of products.

None of the above wedges are available in left hand, although we also stock the VW-03, a left hand only wedge. Most similar to the VW-08, it also features a very traditional grind and versatility in play.
